Whale for Surfing Competition

Haunted Heats Halloween Surfing Contest

A 13-foot long orca whale made for a costume surfing competition.

The whale was inflated and held out in the ocean so a surfer dressed as the child from Free Willy could surf under it. It was also used as part of an on beach performance.

The whale body was constructed out of mylar sheets that were ironed together. It was then painted to appear as an orca, but only on one side to save weight.

AREAS OF INTEREST

My current area of interests is developing well designed data visualizations that are unique, informative, useful and engaging. Additionally I’m focused on combining data visualization and generative art practices to create generative art/visualizations, and then useing various production methods to make physical representations of the generated works.
